How to brew V60 coffee?

Start by placing the carafe and the V60 on the scale.
Insert the paper filter and rinse it. This step removes the taste of the paper filter. Don't forget to empty the water used for rinsing. Then add the ground coffee and tare the scale.

The first step is the "bloom." This essential step releases certain gases trapped in the beans during roasting and ensures an even extraction.

Start the scale's timer and pour 3 times the weight of the ground coffee in water. For example, if you used 20g of ground coffee, pour 60g of water. Check that all the coffee is well moistened, and gently agitate the coffee maker if it is not.

Wait 45 seconds, then pour water until you reach a total of 200g of water. If my "bloom" was 60g of water, then I pour 140g of water.

Wait another 45 seconds, then pour the remaining 100g of water to reach a total of 300g of water.

In total, the extraction should last between 3 min and 3 min 30.

FAQs

When preparing coffee with the Kinto carafe, it is advisable to opt for light to medium roast coffees. These roast levels help to highlight the delicate aromas of the coffee when brewed using the Kinto brewer. Lightly roasted coffees often feature floral, fruity, and acidic notes, which is why we highly recommend trying the organic Araku High Altitude specialty coffee. Its freshness and natural vegetal character are perfectly enhanced by this brewing method.

There are many pour-over coffee methods. For example, there is the Hario V60 dripper, the Origami, or the Chemex. The main difference between brewing coffee with a V60 and a Chemex lies in the design of the equipment, the shape of the paper filter used, and the taste characteristics of the resulting coffee. The Hario V60 dripper or the Origami dripper focus on precise extraction and highlight the subtle aromas and nuances of the coffee, while the Chemex method offers a smoother and cleaner coffee, with a heavier body and rounder tasting notes.

To maintain your Kinto carafe, it is recommended to rinse it with hot water after each use. For a more thorough cleaning, you can occasionally use a little mild soap, but avoid harsh detergents to prevent damaging the Kinto coffee maker. For persistent stains, treat them with a solution of hot water and baking soda or white vinegar.
